The Thrissur Vigilance Court on Thursday directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to register a First Information Report (FIR) and re-investigate the case of land encroachment by D-Cinemaas, the multiplex owned by actor Dileep in Chalakudy.

The court rejected the investigation report filed by the Vigilance earlier showing no encroachment. The investigation was held on a complaint filed by social activist P.D. Joseph that D-Cinemaas was constructed after encroaching upon government land.

The court ordered a re-investigation on Mr. Joseph’s complaint questioning the Vigilance report that had given a clean chit to D-Cinemaas.

In his complaint, Mr. Joseph alleged that D-Cinemaas had encroached upon the land belonging to the royal family, which was given to Sreedharamangalam temple before the formation of the State to build an Oottupura. The land was purchased by Dileep in 2005.

According to Mr. Joseph, the land was split into eight units using forged documents and the actor brought all the units. Mr. Joseph alleged that the land also included 35 cents of puramboke land.

The petitioner urged the court to recover the encroached land and demolish all illegal constructions.

Mr. Joseph had also given a complaint against former Thrissur Collector M.S. Jaya too. He alleged that the Revenue and municipal authorities had supported the actor in the encroachment. Earlier, the district survey department had given a clean chit to D-Cinemaas.
