More than 10,000 students from across the State will participate in the four-day Kerala school science fair or Sasthrolsavam 2016-17 to be held at Shoranur, near here, from Wednesday.

On the first day, there will be only registration and flag-hoisting. Considered to be the biggest science fair for students in Asia, the event will be formally inaugurated by Minister for Education C. Ravindranath on Thursday morning.

The event is a combination of different fairs: science, maths, social science, IT streams, and work experience. Different schools at Shoranur, Vadanamkurissi and Vaniyamkulam will play host to the fete.

There will be competitions for 264 events.

The vocational expo will provide a venue to the participants to exhibit and sell their products. Students winning A, B and C grades at the fair will be entitled for grace marks, cash awards, and trophies. Various cultural programmes, including puppetry show, musical night, Sopanam music and dance festival, will be held as part of the fare.
