CPI(M) showing double standards: KC(M)

March 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

The Kerala Congress (M) [KC(M)] has alleged that the CPI(M) is showing double standards when it comes to their call for Finance Minister K.M. Mani to desist from presenting the State budget for the year 2015-16.

In a statement here on Saturday, party general secretary Joseph M. Puthussery said the former Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac had presented his budget even after being caught in the allegations on his role in the case pertaining to the sale of paper lotteries from other States.

Moreover, Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan, who had led the Opposition to the Governor appealing to him not to allow Mr. Mani to present his budget, was already an accused in the Kasaragod land allotment case. His appeals to exempt from the case, both in the High Court and the Supreme Court, had been rejected, he said.

The accusations against Mr. Mani still remained in the realm of unsubstantiated allegations, Mr. Puthussery said. He said that any move to resist the presentation of the annual budget, which was a Constitutional obligation, was aimed at creating an administrative deadlock in the State.

‘Move to resist presentation of budget is aimed at creating an administrative deadlock in the State.’
