District Collector S. Venkatesapathy has asked the Panchayat Deputy Director to report within two days on steps taken to prevent fever in Venganoor, Balaramapuram, Pallichal, Malayinkeezhu, Karakulam, Vilappil, Vilavoorkkal, and Kalliyoor grama panchayats that have seen the maximum number of fever cases.
He was addressing a meeting of district-level officials in areas affected by fever at the Collectorate on Friday. The Collector asked the Corporation Secretary to submit a report within two days on the steps taken by the civic body to check fever.
The Panchayat Deputy Director and the District Medical Officer were also asked to give reports within a week on fever prevention activities undertaken in other grama panchayats.
The Collector asked the officials to be vigilant and expedite fever prevention activities in the wake of intermittent rain and sun contributing to the rise in fever cases.
Waste management
Source management of waste in each ward will be entrusted to an anganwadi staff. A volunteer or worker will cover 25 houses in each ward and render all assistance. Kudumbasree workers, Corporation staff, and Health Department staff will also conduct house visits.
Dry days will be mandatorily observed in all schools on Fridays, in government, quasi-government, and private institutions on Saturdays, and in households on Sundays.
Rainwater harvesting should be done to the maximum extent possible in the wake of rains letting off, the Collector told officials.
The DMO was asked to take steps to provide preventive medicines to Kudumbasree workers engaged in sanitation activities and gloves and other safety gear too. The Collector also appealed to the public to support the government’s efforts for fever control.
