Cultural activists led by theatre personality and actor P. Balachandran, scholar K.G. Paulose and theatre personality A.R. Ratheesan have formed a collective, Mannu Maryada, to preserve the legacy of artist Asanthan by collecting his works and supporting arts students with a scholarship instituted in his name.

The group is also thinking of ways to support Asanthan’s spouse who lives in a makeshift house right now.

The collective held its first meeting last weekend and is now formalising the plan to build a foundation to preserve the artist’s memory.
