The claims made by Sangh Parivar elements at the recent Indian Science Congress have resulted in the global community heaping ridicule on India’s scientists and science scene, All India People’s Science Network (AIPSN) president D. Raghunandan has said.
He was inaugurating a State-level workers’ camp of the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad at Mundur near here.
“These elements want to trace everything back to the Hindu Vedic age. They are not talking about the mediaeval period because then they will have to mention the influence of Islam. They are giving the young generation a wrong idea of science. This is why nobody takes Indian scientists seriously now,” he said. He also urged the Union government to make a distinction between imagination and reality.
“It will be fanciful to say that India invented the aeroplane. If ancient India had airfare technology, we would like to see some evidence,” he said.
Mr. Raghunandan also accused the Modi government of branding those who follow real scientific tradition as anti-Hindus and followers of Western thought process.
The camp will end on Monday.
