The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the Cheriyathura riot case of 2009.
The CBI filed the report before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here on Saturday saying it could not find evidence regarding involvement of any person in the riot. Riots had broken out at Cheriyathura in Thiruvananthapuram, and the second riot on May 17, 2009, had ended in police firing.
Six people were killed and many others injured in the firing. The CBI had taken over the case as the involvement of people from outside the State in the riot was suspected and as remains of the explosive Neogel were found at Cheriyathura.
The CBI report said it could not find out how the explosives had reached Cheriyathura.
Four policemen had been suspended following the incident.
