Opposition Leader in Assembly Ramesh Chennithala lashed out at the Home Department for failing to maintain law and order in the State.

Speaking at a Congress meeting held at Unniyal near Tirur on Friday, Mr. Chennithala said the Home Department had become rudderless and that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had lost control over the police force in the State.

“It’s a shame that the State’s police chief is made to bow before the people to apologise for the wrongdoings of the force,” he said. He said widespread looting had taken place at Unniyal in the name of political clashes. The United Democratic Front would raise the issue in Assembly, he said. Policemen showing bias in their duty would be brought to book, he said.

U.K. Bhasi, former District Congress chief, presided. Indian Union Muslim League leaders K. Kutty Ahamed Kutty and Abdurahman Randathani, and District Congress chief E. Mohammed Kunhi spoke.
