Check-post official held on bribery charges

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested a civil excise officer posted at the Manjeswaram check-post for allegedly accepting bribe from vehicle operators.

Ranjith, 35, a resident of Cheemeni, was arrested on a tip-off that Rs.100 each was being collected from inter-State trucks passing through the check-post, sources said.
