Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should resign in the wake of the adverse remarks against his office by the Kerala High Court in the land grab cases.

Addressing the media at the CPI(M) district committee office at Cheruthoni, Mr. Vijayan said it was clear that the Chief Minister’s Office was a source of all fraudulent deeds.

Ramifications

He said the court had made a critical reference against the Chief Minister. Claiming that it was not a mere political issue for the elections, Mr. Vijayan said it had severe ramifications on the governance of the Chief Minister’s Office.

The police inquiry in the case would not bring out the facts, he said, adding that the order for a probe by an outside agency was an endorsement for a serious inquiry into the involvement of powerful persons, Mr. Vijayan said.

KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran should now ask the Chief Minister to resign, he said. Mr. Chandy was part of a criminal conspiracy involving corruption in which his office had been misused.

Welcoming the CBI inquiry in the land grab cases, Mr. Vijayan said it was needed to bring out the involvement of the Chief Minister’s Office in the conspiracy.
