Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has assured families that lost their title deed, identify card, ration card, and other documents in recent landslips that government departments will take special measures to replace the lost ones.
Mr. Chandy visited on Friday a relief camp at the Manjuvayal Vimala lower primary school where families displaced by landslips have been given shelter. He requested all those who have lost the documents to contact the authorities of the departments concerned.
The Chief Minister announced an emergency aid of Rs.5,000 to those who lost their clothes and other belongings and promised them temporary shelter. They would get permanent accommodation later. Those who lost farmland would get alternative land.
The Chief Minister, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, and Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty visited the landslip-hit areas on Friday and the relief camps at the Annakampoyil parish hall and the Manjuvayal school.
Mr. Ravi assured the victims that he would arrange help for the victims from Central agencies.
Ummer Pandikasala, a member of the State Debt Relief Commission, said the option of declaring the Pulloorampara-Anakkampoyil area as a disaster-affected zone would be considered. Legislators C. Moieenkutty and V.M. Ummer and District Collector K.V. Mohan Kumar accompanied the Ministers during the visit.
