Cabinet raises retirement age of medical college teachers

The Kerala Cabinet decided to increase the retirement age of medical college teachers in the State from 55 to 60 years on Wednesday.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told the media after the Cabinet meeting that the decision would have effect from this year.

The Chief Minister also announced that the relaxation of norms granted to the Scheduled Tribes for admissions to MBBS course would be made applicable to BDS course also. An Ordinance would be issued to change the rules in that regard.

Mr. Achuthanthandan said that the Cabinet had sanctioned 31 new posts for the taluk hospital at Maveliikara and decided to increase the bed strength of the hospital by 100.
