The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to give equal weightage for qualifying examinations in admissions to professional courses in the State from the next academic year.

Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan told the media after Cabinet meeting that marks obtained in the entrance examinations and the qualifying examinations would be considered equally for selection to the professional courses.

The Chief Minister said that the government proposed to bring a Bill to change the admissions norms and reform the admission system. It would seek the Central government’s approval for the legislation.
