The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday called upon the people to show restraint and maintain calm whatever be the verdict of the court on the Ramajanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.
Noting that the Allahabad bench of the UP High Court was to deliver the judgement on Thursday, the Cabinet said that all should respect the verdict. if any section found the verdict unsatisfactory, the proper course in a democracy would be to go on appeal before the higher court. All should strive to maintain peace.
In an official release issued after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister urged all to keep vigil to ensure communal amity and peace.
Free rations:
The Cabinet decided to extend the term of the State Finance Commission up to December 31. It also sanctioned two weeks’ free rations to families hit by heavy rains and floods.
The Cabinet decided to request the High Court to spare the services of a district judge for judicial enquiry into the liquor tragedy in Malappuram district, as the Court had declined to spare the services of a sitting High Court judge. The report of the Excise Commissioner on the tragedy would be sent to the judicial commission for further enquiry.
