Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kerala G. Gopakumar has said that dissertations can significantly contribute to a country’s higher education and research growth.
“Early stirrings of profound ideas and methodological rigour are ingrained in a scholar through dissertations,” said Dr. Gopakumar. He was speaking after presenting the Korambayil Ahamed Haji Dissertation Awards at Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, on Tuesday. The Department of English of the college and the Korambayil Foundation jointly instituted the award.
Shivshankar Rajmohan from Kannur University bagged the Top Dissertation award of Rs.10,000. Middle and Promising Dissertation awards of Rs.7,000 and Rs.5,000 went respectively to M. Swathi and R. Renu from the University of Calicut.
Farhad Korambayil, director of Korambayil Hospital, Manjeri, gave away the prizes to the winners of an inter-collegiate extempore public speaking competition conducted by the Department of English.
