Auto-taxi, autorickshaw drivers clash; 4 injured

March 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

Four persons were injured as auto-taxi and autorickshaw drivers clashed over a parking space here on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at Pazhaveedu where the district administration had recently allotted a parking space for auto-taxi operators.

However, they have accused certain autorickshaw drivers of remaining unwilling to cede the parking space. The issue took a violent turn on Saturday when a group of 14 persons allegedly attacked a few auto-taxi drivers.

Four persons, who have been identified as Babu, 38, Nasser, 47, Sajeer, 38, and Saleem, 60, sustained injuries and were admitted to the General Hospital.

It is believed that a complaint submitted by auto-taxi drivers was the prime cause of the attack. The Alappuzha South police have launched a probe into the incident.
