Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Thursday said the governments of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front were following the politics of appeasement in the State and a majority of people were kept out of development.
He was addressing a campaign meeting of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates B. Gopalakrishnan (Thrissur), T.S. Ullas Babu (Wadakkanchery) and P.K. Santhosh (Ollur) at Thekkinkadu Maidan here. He said the NDA would ensure inclusive development in the State.
“Both the LDF and UDF followed vote-bank politics. We will bring development for all, who were excluded from development,” he said.
He said both fronts did not have any political ideology. “If they had any ideology, they would not have made an alliance in West Bengal and fight against each other in Kerala.”
He said the fronts failed to tap the huge tourism potential of the State. “They failed to utilise the skill of the educated youth too,” he added.
“Kerala has lost its rich cultural heritage. The BJP will bring back its lost glory. The NDA government will create job opportunities so that the educated youth need not go abroad in search of jobs,” he said.
“So far, the people in Kerala used to vote for defeating the UDF or LDF, when they are fed up of the incumbent governments. A negative voting culture prevailed here,” Mr. Shah noted. He asked the people to vote for the BJP.
“What happened to Sonia Gandhi’s patriotism when multi-crore corruptions were taking place under the UPA rule,” he asked.
On CPI(M) secretary Sitaram Yechury’s comment that communal harmony will be at risk under the BJP rule, Mr. Shah said more than 250 BJP-RSS workers lost their lives in the attacks of Left workers.
“But you cannot scare us with this violence. We will fight till we form a BJP-led government in the State.”
Mr. Shah released the campaign CD of Thrissur NDA candidate B. Gopalakrishnan.
