All for a green industrial policy

Industries Minister E.P. Jayarajan has said that the industrial policy of the State government is one based on people and environment-friendly approach.

“The government is not keen on keeping afloat industries which harm the environment and people,” he said at a programme organised by the Small Scale Industries Federation here on Friday.

All aspects that come in the way of industrial growth would be removed so as to enable the State make progress industrially. In sharp contrast to the situation 10 to 15 years ago, the climate for industrial growth in the State was very favourable now, he said. Since workers had realised that there was a need to protect the industries of the State, the culture of strikes was fast going out of favour.

The government would not only promote industrialisation in the State but also promote the products of the industries in the domestic and international markets. The government had also directed the Kerala State Industries Development Corporation to study the problems of industrialists and suggest solutions in four months

He said that small and medium industries would be promoted by the government. Private and public sectors would be treated on par.

Later in the day, the Minister inaugurated a seminar on “Challenges and opportunities of titanium industries.”

Talks at KMML

He told mediapersons afterwards said that measures would be taken to double the job opportunities in the public-sector Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML). He said he would visit the company. located at Chavara near here. on July 28. Talks would be held with all concerned then.

The talks would centre around reviving the mining activities of the company-based on a policy that would be people and environment friendly.
