Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for misusing his official residence to hatch a conspiracy to protect K.B. Ganesh Kumar and dissuade the legislator’s wife, Yamini Thankachi, from filing a complaint against the then Minister.
Mr. Achuthanandan told reporters here on Wednesday that after sending back Ms. Thankachi without accepting her complaint, Mr. Chandy again called her to his official residence and secured a written assurance that she would never file a complaint against her husband. Mr. Chandy held discussion with her for hours, called the lawyers of both parties to his residence, and mediated with Labour Minister Shibu Baby John to dilute the case and share Mr. Ganesh Kumar’s assets. He had been instrumental in drawing up an agreement and included a condition that a divorce case would be filed only after March 30. This amounted to criminal conspiracy. He cheated the victim of domestic violence and protected Mr. Ganesh Kumar who harassed her. Mr. Chandy was directly involved in the conspiracy and should quit. On disruption of Assembly proceedings, he said he had sought to move a submission as a notice for an adjournment motion had already been given on the same issue.
