The University of Kerala, which has been in the news for its ongoing tussle between the Vice Chancellor and a section of Syndicate members, has secured an exemplary 29th rank among universities in the country, according to a nationwide ranking system undertaken by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The university has been ranked the first among the five State universities that figure among the top 100 in the country in the India Rankings 2017, under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which was released on Monday. Overall, it has been ranked 47th among all educational establishments in the country.
The other universities included the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (35th rank), the University of Calicut (57th rank), Mahatma Gandhi University (67th rank) and the Cochin University of Science and Technology (86th rank).
The University of Kerala secured an overall score of 43.95, while the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology scored 43.06.
