Road works estimated to cost ₹850 crore in the districts of Kollam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod will begin this month. It includes the ₹381-crore Munnar-Bodimettu corridor of National Highway 85.
The work on the 26-km NH corridor up to Bodumettu in Theni district of Tamil Nadu will be launched by Union Minister of Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari on November 17 in the presence of Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister for Public Works G. Sudhakaran.
The ₹200-crore City Road Improvement Project in Kozhikode will be inaugurated on November 14 by Mr. Vijayan. Executed under the Kerala Road Fund Board, the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society will manage the six corridors for 15 years as part of an agreement. Mr. Sudhakaran said the intervention of the government had helped to complete within the time-frame.
A regional office of the design wing of the Public Works Department will be inaugurated in Kozhikode by Mr. Sudhakaran. He will also launch road works in the Assembly constituencies of Koyilandy, Vadakara, and Nadapuram.
On November 18, the ₹42-crore court complex in Thrissur will be inaugurated by Chief Justice Navniti Prasad Singh. . The work on ONV Road in Chavara and the ₹114-crore Kollam Ashramom Link road will begin on November 23.
The 25-km Vidya Nagar-Seethangoli and Uppala-Kaniyana corridors constructed at a cost of ₹84 crore in Kasargod district by the Road Infrastructure Company Kerala under the PWD will be thrown open to traffic on November 24. The Minister will also kick off the work on the Sub-Registrar Office at Manjeswaram and the upgrade of the Kanghangad-Panathur State Highway.
On November 25, the Minister will inaugurate the work on the Pazhavangadi-Matoor road and the bridges at Kacherikadavu and Chungakunnu. The Malappuram-Kottapadi bypass road and other works in Malappuram will be inaugurated by the Minister.
