Sharat B., zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer, inspected rural road works in Humnabad taluk on Friday.

He rode along the 7.7-km road being built between Chandanahalli to Kumar Chincholi villages under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana’s third phase called ‘Namma Grama Namma Raste’.

He picked out stones and tar pellets from the road and asked engineers to see if they were as per the norms. He also asked them to check the quality and quantity of materials being used. Executive engineer A.B. Deshpande said these were as per the specifications. He said that modern techniques like paver machines, to put a layer of grade two metal, and vibrators, to ensure compaction, were being used for the first time in rural Bidar.

Bidar ZP has successfully completed the first two phases of PMGSY that started in 2009. In the third phase, 128 kilometre of road has been taken up through 26 works. Of these, 11 works have started, while the Chandanahalli road nearing completion.
