Youth dies while taking selfie near falls

A youth from Belagavi district died when he fell into a 60-ft deep gorge while taking a selfie near Amboli Falls, a popular tourist destination in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra, on Saturday.

Assistant police inspector Arun Santram Jadhav said that Rudrappa Vitthal Bajeri (19) of Neginhal village of Bailhongal taluk had come to Amboli, around 65 km from Belagavi city, with his friends. He slipped into the gorge while taking a selfie on his phone around 11 a.m. The body was recovered with the help of village residents and tourists, and handed over to the family.
