In a bid to help sheep farmers get a market for their wool and woollen products, Minister for Textiles Baburao Chinchanasur on Saturday said wool mills will be set up near the proposed Textiles Park at Yadgir.

Speaking to presspersons, the Minister said the State had a sheep population of one crore, but farmers, who extract wool were discarding it as there was no demand for handmade blankets. The mills would be set up on a 100-acre plot with an investment of Rs. 200 crore adjacent to the proposed Textiles Park on the outskirts of the town. Mr. Chinchansur, also in-charge Minister of the district, said plans to help sheep farmers export woollen products. He said he would request for special funds for developing infrastructure in the district under the special status accorded to the HK region.
