M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, has confirmed that he will contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the Chickballapur constituency.

Talking to presspersons after the inauguration of a transport hub for gas tanker truck drivers here on Saturday, Mr. Moily said, “There is no question of me contesting from anywhere else.”

He expressed confidence that the Congress could win “at least 25” out of the 28 seats in the state.

Yettinahole project

Asked about the Yettinahole diversion project, the Minister said, “Our demand is for water for Chickballapur, irrespective of whether it comes from the Netravati or the Cauvery…the project has to be executed by the State government,” he said. Fluoride-content in the region was a cause for concern, the Minister added.
