Karnataka High Court Judge and Chairman of the High Court Legal services Committee L. Narayanaswamy expressed his displeasure over the increasing atrocities and crime against children.
He said that the administration and the civil society have completely failed to protect child rights effectively.
Speaking after inaugurating a workshop on ‘Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences and Juvenile Justice’ jointly organised by the High Court Legal Services Committee and District Bar Association in Yadgir on Saturday, the Judge said superstitious beliefs and false customs were responsible for the thriving Devadasi system, child marriage, child trafficking and sexual offences against children. “It is the duty of the public to join hands with law implementing agencies to fight against the crime against children,” he said.
He stressed on the need for concrete action.
