The bail plea of Vice Chancellor of Karnataka University Prof. H.B. Walikar, who has been arrested by Lokayukta Police in connection with alleged irregularities in the university, was rejected by the Special Lokayukta Court here on Thursday.
However the Third Additional District Judge (Prevention of Corruption) H.S. Ballolli allowed the bail plea of three others namely Registrar (Evaluation) H.T. Pote, Finance Officer S. Rajashri and Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor S.L. Bilagi and awarded them conditional bail.
In all eleven persons have been named in the case registered by the Lokayukta Police based on the complaint filed by the Registrar of the University following directions from the Governor of Karnataka.
The Lokayukta police had arrested all the four on Monday and the accused had filed bail application on Tuesday. After hearing the arguments the court had posted the case for orders on Thursday.
Mr. Walikar and Ms. Rajashri were admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital in Hubli following complaints of high sugar level and high blood pressure while H.T. Pote and Mr S.L. Bilagi are in judicial custody.
