Visual treat at Samskrutika Sourabha

Connoisseurs of music and dance were in for a treat at the Samskrutika Sourabha organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture at Huligi, a pilgrim centre in Koppal district on Tuesday night.

‘Jogati nrutya’ by Rajyotsava award winner Manjavva Jogti and her troupe from Mariyammanahalli in Ballari district enthralled the audience with their acrobatics and balancing acts. They carried pots filled with water on their head while swaying to the tunes of songs in praise of Devi Yellamma.

Classical dance and ballet by the students of Rhythm Dance Academy, Koppal; tabala solo by S.S. Hiremath of Kustagi; group dance by a team from Talkal; folk songs by V.H. Yaraknal; Hindusthani classical vocal performance by Anjaneya Gaddi; ‘Katha keertan’ by Shivaraj Shastri; ‘sugam sangeet’ by Sanjay Handral; and ‘Veera Yechchema Nayak’, a play by Bhuvaneshwari Kannada Kala Sangha, Huligi, won the applause of the audience.

Janardhan Huligi, Koppal Zilla Panchayat member inaugurated the event.
