Vehicle emission testing, plantation drives organised

A mass sapling plantation drive and vehicle emission testing drive were held under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the zilla panchayat in the city on Tuesday to mark World Environment Day.

K. Natarajan, Principal District and Sessions Judge inaugurated the programme organised to mark World Environment Day by planting a sapling at the tree-park in Muddinakoppa on the outskirts of the city.

Somashekhar Badami, Member Secretary, DLSA, was present. More than 1,500 saplings of flower and fruit-bearing trees were planted in Muddinakoppa and in Machenahalli as part of the drive.

A jatha to create awareness on the need to conserve forests and minimise the usage of plastic was also taken out from Shivappa Nayaka Palace. Students from various educational institutions and members of organisations working for conservation of environment took part. A vehicle emission testing drive was conducted on Sagar Road.
