Even as certain groups are threatening to disrupt the T-20 cricket match scheduled between India and Pakistan in Bangalore on December 25, the Kannada Okkoota-Karnataka Rajya is proclaiming the message of peace.

Sticking to his trademark style of protesting, Vatal Nagaraj, president of the Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha and president of the okkoota, on Tuesday held a demonstration near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here, the venue of the match. Dressed in cricket whites, Mr. Nagaraj played a symbolic shot, hitting the ball off a bowler. Urging the Indian and Pakistani teams to play the series with true sportsmanship, he said, “Opposing the cricket match is dishonouring the players and cricket lovers. No one should obstruct the match. This demonstration is a sign of the peace and harmony required between the two countries owing to the rising tension and terrorism of which both countries are victims. It is also a call to the world not to mix terrorism with culture and sports. It has been 16 years since both countries have played in Bangalore,” he added.
