Various artistes to perform at ‘Hampi Utsav 2015’

Various artistes of national and international fame would be giving their performances at the Hampi Utsav 2015.

The three-day cultural extravaganza to be held during January 9-11 at Hampi include performance by Kaivalya Kumar Gurav, T.S. Satyavathi, Parmeshwar Hegde (vocalists) as well as renowned bollywood singers Himesh Reshamiya, Mikka Singh, Richa Sharma, Shalmali Kolgodu among others.

“With a view to celebrate Hampi Utsav on a grand scale, we would be hosting around 2,500 artistes, drawn from the district, State and from other States too. Preference has been given to accommodate more number of local artistes (1,250), artistes from the State (850), outside the State (340) and international artistes (60)”, Sameer Shukla, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman district-level Hampi Utsav celebration committee, told presspersons here on Tuesday.

Artistes from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu along with international artistes from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Africa would also be performing, he said.

Apart from cultural programmes, there would be adventure and water sports, kite festival, food courts, Kid zone with around 20 to 25 items exclusively for kids, flower show, photography and painting competitions, exhibition stalls to attract cross section of the society, he said.

‘Hampi by para plane’ was a new attraction to be introduced during the ensuing Hampi Utsav and all arrangements were being made. However, the popularity earned by ‘Hampi by sky’, a helicopter ride introduced during the Hampi Utsav - 2014, the authorities were planning to reintroduce it during the ensuing cultural festival too.

Five stages would be erected and named after Sri Krishnadevaraya (main stage), Late M.P. Prakash (second main stage), Sage Vidyaranya (Yeduru Basava temple), Hakka Bukka (Virupaksha temple precinct) and Late Daroji Eeramma (Opposite to Krishna temple).

Mr. Shukla said that various committees have been formed to take care of all aspects related to the Utsav. Details of the events during the Utsav will be on the website ‘hampiutsav.com’.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be inaugurating the cultural festival on January 9 at 6.00 p.m. R.V. Deshpande, Minister for Tourism and Chairman of State-level Utsav Committee, presides. Ministers P.T. Parmeshwar Naik, Ms. Umashree among others would be participating as guests.
