Two drown in Sharavati backwaters

Two youths from Bengaluru drowned in Sharavati backwaters near Ambaragodlu village, in Sagar taluk, on Saturday. The police have identified the deceased as Prathap and Rajesh, both aged 21. The two were pursuing a B.Com course at Government First Grade College, in Vijayanagar, in Bengaluru.

The police said that the victims, along with 14 other friends, had been on a visit to Sigandur and Jog. When they ventured to swim in the Sharavati backwaters, Prathap and Rajesh drowned.

The bodies were fished out of the water with the help of local divers. Sagar rural police station registered a case.
