Two observers appointed for GP polls

They will keep a tab on poll expenditure

The State Election Commission has appointed two observers of election expenditure for smooth conduct of gram panchayat elections on May 29.

Vidyakumari has been appointed as observer for Mandya, Malavalli and Maddur taluks (phone: 8277086493) and P.S. Kantharaj for Srirangapatna, Pandavapura, Nagamangala and K.R. Pet taluks (phone: 8277086492), a release from the Department of Information and Public Relations said.

Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushnan has imposed a ban on the sale of liquor in Mandya district from Tuesday morning till 7 a.m. on May 30, according to official sources.

The district administration has also banned temple and cattle fairs on May 29, the release said.
