A speech and hearing-impaired girl was allegedly molested by her neighbour in Tayur village in Nanjangud taluk of Mysore district on Friday.
The victim’s mother, an agricultural labourer, had gone out on Friday morning. However, she saw the neighbour rushing out of her house adjusting his clothing and, hence, suspects molestation.
The incident came to light on Saturday following a police complaint lodged by the victim’s mother at the Badanval police station.
The police have taken the accused into custody. A case has been registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint. The girl has been shifted to the K.R. Hospital in Mysore for medical examination.
Another incident In another incident a minor girl, who had come to the city from Bangalore, was assaulted by two persons in the Mysore rural police limits on Thursday.
The girl reached the city by train and was headed towards the bus-stand when two persons took her away in an autorickshaw towards Chamundi Hills. However, the girl escaped and sought refuge in a house.
The residents alerted the police, and based on the descriptions given by the girl, tracked down the autorickhaw and a person identified as Gangadhar.
