Tumakuru CMC presents e-budget

Tumakuru City Municipal Corporation presented the first paperless e-budget in the state for the financial year 2015-16 at the CMC here on Tuesday.

Before the Chairman of Standing Committee for Tax and Finance Tumakuru CMC, Tumakuru, Nagesh B.S. presented the surplus paperless budget of Rs. 203.52 lakh for the fiscal year 2015-16, opposition party members raised objection for presenting e-budget as they were not given training to operate laptops.

Mr. Nagesh said that the total revenue was Rs. 189.61 crore for the financial year 2015-16 and the expenditure is Rs. 187.57 crore.

Leader of Opposition, Tumakuru CMC, Sudhishwar welcomed the decision of the ruling party to present a paperless budget but alleged that the members of opposition party were neglected in preparing the budget.

Mr. Sudhishwar raised objection against presenting the e-budget alleging that though they were provided with the laptops three months back but no training was given to the members to help them to operate laptops.

Corporator, Rajanna reacting to the allegations said that after the members of CMC were provided with the laptops, the members were trained thrice regarding the operation of laptops.

Corporator, T.R. Nagaraj said that it is the first paperless budget that is being presented by a CMC in the state and requested the opposition party leaders to allow them to present the budget.

But the opposition party members turned a deaf ear to his appeal and walked out of the budget session of CMC.

However, the members of Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who are ruling the CMC succeeded in persuading them to attend the budget session.

Mr. Nagesh who presented the e-budget said that the budget aims at providing proper infrastructure including drinking water, street lights, drainages to the city. He said more stress will be laid to keep the city clean.

He also announced that the online tax payment will be started from April 1, 2015 to enable the people of Tumakuru to pay their taxes online.

Mayor Laitha Ravish, Deputy Mayor Venkatesh M.N., Commissioner Ashad R. Sharif were among those present.
