‘Tribals must get all facilities’

March 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - MYSURU:

“Who has the courage to discipline an elephant?” asked V. Srinivas Prasad, Minister in-charge of Mysuru district, in his address at the Budakattu Utsav here on Saturday.

He said a tribal has the skill to be an elephant’s mahout. None from the city can do this. Tribals have a rich culture and should get all facilities without discrimination. Funds set aside for tribal development should be utilised judiciously, he said.

While stating that there was a proposal to provide reservation for tribals, he did not elaborate on how it would be implemented.

The Minister asked the tribals to become a combined force and fight for their rights.
