Transfer policy for DDPIs, BEOs to come into effect on Monday

Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar has said that a new transfer policy related to Deputy Directors of Public Instruction and Block Education Officers will come into effect on June 13 under which all DDPIs and BEOs working in their native districts will be transferred to other districts.

He told presspersons here on Wednesday that though the new policy was formulated a few months ago, it could be implemented only on June 13.

He said that as per the new rule, any DDPI working in his native district would not be allowed to serve in the same district. “As far as BEOs are concerned, no such officer will be allowed to serve in one district for more than three years, and no such officer will be allowed to work as BEO in his native district. Such BEOs will be given posting in equal grade if they are serving in their native districts,” he said. On discrepancies in admissions under the RTE Act, Mr. Ratnakar said that the government had admitted 1.13 lakh students in private schools under the Act. “Yet, there are some loose ends. We are bringing in a centralised system to remove any malpractice in admitting children to schools under the Act. The government is trying to address all grievances,” he said.
