Nearly three years after its announcement, a passenger train service between Bangalore and Nelamangala, on the Bangalore-Hassan new line, is being launched on April 29.
Train No. 56579, Bangalore City-Nelamangala daily passenger will leave the city at 12.20 p.m. to reach Nelamangala at 1.20 p.m. In the return direction, Train no. 56580 will leave Nelamangala at 2.10 p.m. to reach Bangalore city at 3.20 p.m.
The train will run via Malleswaram, Yeshwantpur, Chikkabanavara and Soladevanahalli. It has nine general second-class sitting coaches, two double-decker chair cars and two second class-cum-luggage vans, said a release from the South Western Railway here.
The service was announced in the 2010-11 Railway budget. Despite the Commissioner of Railway Safety certifying the track between Chikkabanavara and Nelamangala for passenger train operations on June 23, 2011, the Railways had not commenced the services.
Train to Kochuveli
Meanwhile, the SWR will commence services of Train Nos. 16561/562 Yeshwantpur-Kochuveli-Yeshwantpur AC Weekly Express from May 2.
The release said Yeshwantpur-Kochuveli Weekly Express will leave Yeshwantpur at 3.25 p.m. on Thursdays to reach Kochuveli at 6.50 a.m. the next day via Krishnarajapuram, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Trichur, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chengannur and Kollam. The Kochuveli-Yeshwantpur Weekly Express will leave Kochuveli at 12.50 p.m. on Fridays to reach Yeshwantpur at 4.30 a.m. the next day, the release added.
Coaches
The train will have a composition of one first class AC coach, four two-tier AC coaches, nine three-tier AC coaches, 14 second-class sleeper coaches and two brake luggage and generator cars.
