Top artistes to be invited for Navaraspur Utsav

With little over a fortnight left for Navaraspur Utsav, the district administration has already finalised the names of a few noted State and national-level artistes to be invited to perform during the three-day cultural extravaganza from February 27.

Top national-level artists being invited include Sunidhi Chauhan, Udit Narayan, Shankar Mahadevan, Hema Malini and Sudha Chandran. Noted Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Shehnai player Krishna Ballesh and several other artistes will be part of the three-day gala.

In order to give some special attention to the event, actors including Puneet Rajkumar, Sudeep, Yesh and Radhika Pandit will be special invitees, according to sources in the district administration.

Cultural troupes of various States such as Gujarat and Odisha are being contacted for the event.Meanwhile, district in-charge Minister M.B. Patil, who chaired the preparatory meeting here on Saturday, instructed officials to work on a war footing since time was limited.

He said that a decision has been taken to hold the event every year between the third and fourth week of February.

Preparations

Admitting that this year the district administration did not get enough time for preparation, Mr. Patil said that for next year’s event, the preparations would be commence at least six months in advance.

Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, MLA Makbul Bagwan, ZP president Umesh Kolkur and CEO K.B. Shivakumar were present.
