The district administration has decided to celebrate Hazrat Tipu Sultan Jayanti on November 10 in grand manner, Deputy Commissioner Srirangaiah has said.
Speaking at a meeting of officers and representatives of various organisations here on Friday, he said the State government has sanctioned Rs. 50,000 for district-level programme and Rs. 25,000 for taluk-level programme.
A procession carrying a portrait of Tipu Sultan would be taken out from Kanaka Circle, through the main streets of the city, and culminate at the Government Girls’ Pre-University College. The State programme will be held at the Girls’ Pre-University College grounds.
He also said special lectures on the life and achievements of Tipu Sultan would be held during the programme by experts.
Rajyotsava plans
The meeting also decided to hold a grand celebration of the Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1. A procession carrying a portrait of Sri Bhuvaneshwari would be taken out from Sri Nilkanteshwar temple to the Police Parade Grounds.
Minister for Social Welfare and district in-charge H. Anjaneya will inaugurate the programme.
