Three youths travelling in a car were killed as it hit a sand-laden tractor at Thambihalli Gate on National Highway 75 under Rural police limits on Thursday night.
Police gave the names of the deceased as Suresh (24), Adinarayan (23) and Kumar (24), residents of Busanahalli in Mulbagal taluk.
The incident occurred at around midnight when they were travelling to Kolar from Mulbagal.
Police said the speeding car rammed from the rearside into the tractor which was also moving towards Kolar. Police suspect sudden application of brakes by the tractor driver might have caused the accident. All the three car passengers were killed on the spot.
The tractor driver, who is said to have suffered minor injuries, is absconding.
