Three die in accident near Maddur

Three persons from Bengaluru were killed when a jeep collided with a sugarcane-laden lorry on Maddur-Koppa road, near Khani Halla near Koppa, on Saturday morning.

The victims have been identified as S.M. Krishna (40) from Ramenahalli near Kumbalgod, Anwar (35) from Kengeri Satellite Town and Amanulla (29) from Sultan Palya. They were heading towards Koudle in their ill-fated vehicle that collided with the lorry, the Koppa police said.

The police said the lorry was coming from Koudle with sugarcane.

Soon after the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving behind his vehicle.

A case has been registered. The Koppa police are investigating.
