Three boys drown in quarry

Three children, who went swimming in a quarry at Tekal in Masti police limits in Malur taluk of Kolar district, drowned. The accident occurred on Wednesday, but came to light only on Thursday.

The police identified the victims as Sharan (15), his brother Santhosh (13) and Mani (15), all residents of Cox Town in Bangalore.

While the bodies of the brothers have been recovered, efforts are on to recover the body of Mani, Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Ashokkumar told The Hindu .

Seven children from Cox Town had gone to the area on Wednesday. Three of them who decided to swim in the quarry, which was filled with rainwater, drowned. The remaining children fled the scene.

They revealed what happened only on Thursday when they were questioned about their missing friends.
