Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa, who walked out of the council meeting on Thursday, has even threatened to resign.
Following an exchange of words with protesting Congress councillors, Mr. Bhyrappa was heard telling them that he would resign before walking out of the council.
Later, the protesting Congress councillors said that Mr. Bhyrappa offered to resign when they asked the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Town Planning and Improvement to quit if the committee had failed to draw up the list of development works to be taken up in the city properly.
When the Mayor abruptly walked out of the council, the councillors were unaware whether the meeting had been adjourned or would meet later. Though some JD(S) councillors said the meeting had been adjourned for the day and would meet again only on August 4 at 3 p.m. as suggested by the Mayor, an official communiqué announced the MCC would meet at 3 p.m. on Friday.
