The annual Chamundeshwari rathotsava atop Chamundi Hills was held on Thursday and witnessed by thousands of devotees.
One of the major events held soon after Dasara, the rathotsava draws devotees from Mysuru and surrounding regions.
The growing popularity of Chamundi Hills as a place of pilgrimage has contributed to an increase in the number of people visiting the shrine in recent years. Hence, there was a huge turnout for the chariot festival.
Devotees began gathering atop the hills at the crack of dawn and by 7 a.m., the area was swarming with people. Rituals associated with the rathotsava began at around 7.30 a.m. and ended at 9.30 a.m.
G.T. Deve Gowda, MLA for Chamundeshwari constituency, Pramodadevi Wadiyar, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, and officials, including Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, were among those who attended the event.
