The Bharatiya Janata Party has described the Union Budget as a “progressive, forward-looking and one that has set its eyes on long-term benefits rather than temporary short-term gains”.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar said the budget would support the development of the country in tune with the aspirations of the people who voted BJP to power hoping to bring about a change in the system.

He also termed the budget “inclusive” and in tune with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s theme of “support to everybody and development of everybody”.

He expressed happiness over extending the Chennai-Bangalore corridor up to Tumkur; the proposal to develop an industrial smart city in Tumkur; setting up of Mumbai-Bangalore economic corridor; textiles mega cluster in Mysore; and development of an international quality bio cluster in Bangalore to promote biotechnology. He termed these proposals as the gifts of the Narendra Modi government for the people of Karnataka.
