The high school and pre-university college teachers may have to wait longer to get pay hike as per the recommendations of the G. Kumar Naik Committee report.
In reply to the question by BJP member S.V. Sankanur in the Legislative Council here on Friday, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Rathnakar said the Government would respond to the recommendations of the report “positively”, but the decision would take some time because it has financial implication of Rs. 174 crore. The matter was before the finance department, he said.
To another question he said it requires Rs 1,800 crore to provide infrastructure to all 1,203 Government colleges in the State. The Government would provide laboratories for the science colleges and construct toilets at women’s colleges on priority basis this year. Setting up of a laboratory demands Rs. 30 lakh, he said.
Nearly 1,521 private colleges have flouted the norms of the education act and failed to provide necessary infrastructure. Officials have been asked to issue notices and take action against these institutes, he said.
