Reiterating his appeal for cooperation and coordination between the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has the party cadre in Telangana to train sights on regaining power in that State.
Addressing at Mahanadu here on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said: “Let’s not compromise on people’s issues. I am confident that TDP will come back to power in Telangana in 2019 polls.”
Claiming credit for the party for the development achieved in Telangana in the combined State, Mr. Naidu said that the accounts would say how much was spent on roads, irrigation, education, world class infrastructure in Hyderabad, development of Cyberabad as IT hub in the nine years of TDP rule.
He said that the TDP was in the forefront fighting against the Babli project and faced arrest for Telangana people, but TRS had made a sustained campaign to mislead people that the State had suffered because of Andhra leaders. “Let’s not quarrel. We have been together for 56 years,” he said.
Mr. Naidu appealed to the TRS government to prevent farmers’ suicides, ensure social justice and protect university lands for future needs. On defection of some TDP leaders into the TRS, he said: “If opportunists would leave the party, genuine leaders would take their place.”
Speaking on the reforms in energy sector, he said that AP was ready to resolve all power related issues with Telangana amicably.
