Bhagwant Khuba, MP, has asked officials to take up water supply works without any delay.
At a district vigilance meeting on Saturday, he pointed that people were going through an unprecedented period of suffering. “However, there are general complaints that the officers are not serious about the issue,” Mr. Khuba said.
He asked the officials to reach out to the people and provide them support. “You should go to the villages. Don’t make the people come to you,” Mr. Khuba said.
He urged the officials to drill borewells, and supply water from private sources in case of need. “Please intimate the Deputy Commissioner and the zilla panchayat chief executive officer if you find a problem too big to solve,” Mr. Khuba said.
The MP said that centrally-funded housing schemes were not being implemented in a transparent manner. He asked officers to complete all works taken up in Gorta-Bujurg, a village chosen under Samsad Adarsh Gram scheme.
Officials said that around 11,000 of the targeted 27,000 toilets were built this year. They said that people were preferring community toilets over individual toilets due to lack of space in their homes. Forest officials said that 11,400 saplings were planted this year.
Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari and zilla panchayat CEO Pavan Kumar Malpati were present.
