Student drowns while swimming

The body of an engineering student was fished out of the Nayakana tank near Urudigere in Tumakuru taluk and district on Wednesday afternoon.

The police said that the deceased has been identified as R.S. Bharat (23), a seventh semester engineering student at Siddaganga Institute of Technology in Tumakuru city.

He was the resident of Upparahalli in Tumakuru city.

According to the police, the student had gone to Nayakana tank to swim on Monday (December 29) evening. The villagers on Tuesday morning saw a motorcycle, clothes and slippers on the bank of the tank and informed the police.

The police, with the help of fire and emergency services personnel and villagers, carried out the search operation for the body on Tuesday but failed to find the body in the tank.

They started the searching operation on Wednesday morning and fished out the body around 12.30 p.m.

The body has been sent for post-mortem to the District government hospital a case has been registered in Kyatsandra police station.
